| Sam McCreesh Shows Us Who's Boss
He went vegetarian just seven months ago and vegan less than five months ago and has since taken on the big boys with a ferocity that has inspired us all. Sam McCreesh is a peta2 street team activist and has worked with us on countless campaigns to help animals in any and every way he can. Now, he's in the paper and publishing a handbook on finding good veggie eats in Rutland. We feel like proud parents, really. For more on on Sam, check out the article entitled "Ditch the Meat" from the Stamford Today.
If that didn't inspire you, how 'bout a little music and movement to get you going? Click here for some extra motivation. If that doesn't do it, you just may be hopeless beyond repair. We'll keep trying though. | | |
| Court Rules Against Monkey Abuse at Covance
For 11 months, an investigator from PETA US worked as a technician inside the Vienna, Virginia, Covance laboratory, where she documented workers who were striking, choking, taunting and deliberately tormenting terrified monkeys. Covance sought an injunction and was able to get a court order that temporarily prevents PETA Europe from showing the undercover footage from inside the Covance animal-testing facility in the United States. On 16 June, His Honour Judge Langan handed down judgement in the case for injunctive relief brought by Covance Laboratories against PETA Europe Ltd, dismissing the case and calling the arguments against granting an interim injunction "cumulative and, in my judgment, overwhelming". Furthermore, PETA Europe was awarded £50,000 on account of its costs. Read more to find out what you can do.

| Martin Freeman Joins the War Against KFC
Martin Freeman of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has fired off a letter to KFC asking the company to implement PETA's recommended basic animal-welfare standards that will stop the worst abuses experienced by the nearly 850 million chickens raised and killed every year for KFC restaurants. An undercover expose of a KFC supplier in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, was titled by the Sunday Mirror, "Distressed and Dying in a Cramped Shed ... Nobody Does Chicken Like KFC." Despite similar exposes all over the world and science-based guidelines recommended by the world's top animal welfare experts, KFC has refused to do anything to eliminate the worst abuses that chickens suffer.

| Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba Punk rock's leading man also happens to be a proud vegetarian. Yes, some people seem to have it all, but it wasn't always so easy for Mr. Skiba. He started out making fun of his sister when she went veggie, and look at him now! Not only does he tell us why he changed his tune, but he also name drops several of the world's best vegetarian restaurants and even provides directions! With that in mind, be sure to have pen and paper in hand while watching our interview so you can jot down all of his helpful hints. But, be prepared. Like us, you'll have the sudden yearning to hit the street running, because Alkaline Trio's highly-anticipated and critically acclaimed release, Crimson, just dropped yesterday. You don't want to be the last of your friends to score it, now would you?
